LAGA KIDS is a unique program in which both parent and child learn together. We teach you in small, easy-to-follow steps, explaining complicated terms in a way that you and your child can understand, even if you have never sung a note in your lives! After you learn a particular skill, you teach that same skill to your child. This not only reinforces the skill in your mind, but also provides quality time with your child while she or he learns in a comfortable home environment. You and your child will experience success with each lesson, developing creativity as well as technical ability.

Boost Your Child's Brain Power with Music

Not only will you be developing your child's creativity, you also will be helping his academic performance as well. According to human development specialist Diane Bales of the University of Georgia, classical music “primes” the human brain for certain types of thinking. LAGA Kids uses simplified tunes from the classical repertoire, as well as folk and popular music, to teach guitar basics to your family. Music’s complex nature builds passageways in the brain which makes spatial reasoning easier.

When you enroll your child in LAGA Kids, she or he will be engaging all of his or her senses in the learning process. We use the kinesthetic rote approach, which increases the child's body awareness, bringing his or her sense of touch into the process, as well as the senses of sight and hearing. This helps parents and kids who have diverse learning styles able to learn to play music more easily than traditional methods. Using the kinesthetic and reverse kinesthetic approach in the video curriculum, we have had success with dyslexic students and with others who have had problems learning how to read music using traditional methods.

Our video teachers are warm and friendly, making you and your child feel welcome as you enter the world of music together. Thomas Foster, one of our founders, earned his Master of Music degree from Appalachian State University. Thomas is completing his doctorate as a student of James Smith at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. In 2004, Thomas was honored to be chosen to play for John Williams, one of the finest guitarists in modern history, at the Merida Guitar Festival in Mexico. He received his Suzuki certification under William Kossler, who studied with the founder of the Suzuki method. Thomas developed a children's guitar curriculum which met California's strict educational standards. His background in education helps him communicate his love for the guitar to his students in an easy, comfortable manner.
