Tools and Tips

One of the best ways to jumpstart your musical training is to read as much as you can absorb about music. Knowing your instrument's history, the history of your chosen style, as well as a little about the lives and culture of the people who shaped the art can really help you to understand how to play a given piece of music.  Practical advice, such as the proper care of both your instrument and yourself, as well as inside information on techniques, can help you progress faster, since such information is usually gained only by trial-and error. Reading about music theory can also help you progress at a more rapid rate. Theory helps you understand the relationships between the notes that you play, and how those notes work together to produce melody and harmony. To this end, we have furnished you with some great links to articles and resources that will help you grow as a musician.
